Who wants to worry about fumbling for the right key to get in the house, especially when it’s 10 degrees outside. We heard there would be some cool new automated door locks from Black & Decker brands back at CES, and at this week’s International Builder Show in Vegas a few more details were shown off by Kwikset.

The company was showing off the next generation of its SmartCode Signature Series keyless entry deadbolts, which were featured at the Home Depot booth at the expo.

The SmartCode Signature Series needs four AA batteries to power, with an expected battery lifespan of one year, and there’s no hard wiring to install the product.

Don’t worry about the finishes not matching your existing doors, as you should be able to find a fit with the three choices of polished brass, Venetian bronze and satin nickel.

Access comes in two forms for homeowners or builders to create—one code for everyday access, and another for temporary access (for example, if you’re going to have some workers in your house you can grant them temp access and change the code afterward).

Then there’s locking and unlocking of the door itself, which employs motorized deadbolt for true one-touch locking and unlocking. The motor moves the deadbolt itself, and you only need to input the code to unlock. There’s BumpGuard protection as the key backup, and a 30-second automatic door locking delay that can be activated or deactivated, for further peace of mind.

The prices range between $115 and $125, depending on the finish, and are now available to consumers so we can jazz up and safeguard our entryways.
