Krell has added another notch in its Evolution line.

The Evolution 707 is a surround preamp/processor boasting audiophile quality with four HDMI 1.3 inputs. It has 12 output stages with two center channel and four subwoofer outputs, all in an 8.4-channel configuration.

Each of the channels includes the company’s Evolution CAST (Current Audio Signal Transmission) circuitry, which promises jaw-dropping sound.

“The Evolution 707 includes our finest audio and video engineering plus the latest in connectivity technology, HDMI 1.3, to insure the ultimate home theater experience for our customers. The audio signal path is a direct descendant of our flagship Evolution 2 stereo preamplifier,” says Dan D’Agostino, Krell CEO and Chief Designer. “The Evolution 707 presents a purity of sound and video resolution previously unavailable in home theater systems.”

Aside from inputs and outputs aplenty, the Evolution 707 supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio lossless surround formats. Additionally, two Crystal CS497004 digital signal processors, running in 64-bit dual precision mode, decode Dolby Digital Surround EX, Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 6.1 ES, DTS 5.1, DTS NEO:6, Dolby Pro Logic II modes as well as nine proprietary Krell Music Surround modes.

On the video side, color depth has been increased from 24 to 48 bits, with bandwidth getting a boost from 165 to 340MHz.

Like most Krell products, this one is pricey: Expect a $30,000 MSRP.
