Most showers don’t require too much thought in terms of usage—turn the shower on, rotate a knob to adjust the temperature, rotate it again when you’ve turned it to too hot, and maybe adjust the shower head to the correct pressure so you’re not knocked off your feet like in that “Seinfeld” episode.
Kohler is bringing the custom of custom electronics to the shower experience with its new DTV touch-button interface, which it says allows consumers to bring a spa-like experience to their own homes.
The digital interface, which resembles an MP3 player design, lets consumers control the temperature and up to eight shower components; create and save personalized showering programs; flow up to 21 gallons per minute through six water ports; and not worry about multiple valve handles.
Configurations can be chosen through six custom, pre-arranged settings or be personalized. Custom settings include arrangements such as surround, unwind and downpour.
The unit comes in color/finish choice of satin chrome with polished chrome, satin bronze with French gold, and satin nickel with polished nickel.
List price for the Kohler DTV is $987, with the required DTV six-port thermostatic valve an additional $1,100.
