A lot of recording artists have been attaching their names to audio products. Now it’s time to take a walk on the wild side, with Klipsch’s Lou Reed X10i Signature Edition Headphones.
Now you have to figure that Klipsch isn’t targeting the young ones with Lou Reed’s seal of approval. The $399.99 retail price also sort of reinforces that. However, these aren’t exactly kiddie quality—and they are a limited-edition design, to honor the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.
However, like Lou himself, these limited-edition headphones seem destined to be a classic. These are the company’s Image X10i, but have a high-gloss purple finish with copper accents, an echo cancellation microphone, and a three-button remote to handle calls and playlists at the touch of a button. That same remote also has Reed’s signature emblazoned on it. Rounding out the set is a carrying pouch, five sets of ear gels, and a collectible autograph card.
“I have been a fan of Klipsch products for eons,” said Reed. “I’ve always admired the unhyped bass, along with the clarity, depth of detail and extraordinary comfort of the company’s headphones. With Klipsch’s help, my dream headphone will soon be available to all of my fans – a serious model for the serious listener.”
Klipsch is now taking pre-orders for the Signature Audio Edition Lou Reed X10i headphones, with plans to ship on December 10, 2011. Klipsch says that the first 50 customers to place an order will also get an autographed copy of Lulu, Reed’s latest project, which is a collaborative album with Metallica.
