Careful attention was paid to integrating A/V into this kitchen remodel, as both homeowners were passionate about cooking, and used this space for a main gathering and social area.

So custom electronics pro Sensory Environment Design cooked up some nifty solutions to keep A/V out of the way while delivering impact and everyday conveniences.

“The original design had located the TV in the corner above the desk area on an articulating mount,” says SED’s Shane Seira. “After some on-site analysis and meetings with both the designer and homeowners, we suggested to move the TV above the espresso machine to maximize the line of sight to the TV from all parts of the kitchen and dining room. [Builder] Authentic Construction had the cabinet designed so the only thing you see is the screen, which makes for a very clean and polished look.”

Sound for the space is powered by an Audio Control Architect 861 multi-channel amp and sent through Jamo 6.5K4 speakers in the kitchen and James 31-CS speakers in the adjacent dining room.

Multiple video sources are available in the kitchen including his and her cable boxes, music and video from an AppleTV (all of which are located in the main rack in the basement), and a Denon DVD-3800BDCI Blu-ray player (located in the adjacent hallway closet).

An AMX 5200i touchpanel that docks in an in-wall docking station conveniently provides all the control functions. From this touchpanel the homeowners have the ability to control all of their home technology, including audio and video, lights, temperature, and security.

“Or they can simply use it to create the perfect mood for all of there entertaining needs,” says Seira.
