If you’re considering going all out for your home theater and investing in a 2.35 CinemaScope aspect ratio setup—no letterbox black bars on your superwide screen for 2.35:1 aspect movies—keep an eye out to see if JVC’s Hi-Def Experience Tour is making a stop in your neck of the woods.

The company’s HD tour vehicles are going to places like county fairs and jazz festivals, so check the schedule. The tour runs into October, and if it is in your area, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the 2.35 home theater experience with a pretty nice combination taking care of the video.

For its own products, JVC is showcasing its DLA-HD100 theater projector and TH-F3 front surround home theater system. The DLA-HD100 has a contrast ratio of 30,000:1, Gennum VXP video processing and includes vertical stretch so your 2.35 movies are properly scaled.

The other part of the combo is Schneider Optics’ Cine-Digitar Anamorphic 1.33x Lens, part of Schneider’s lens range for handling CinemaScope.

Once you see this system in action, your home theater mind will probably be made up, and those black bars won’t see the light of day when you pop in the Star Wars or Indiana Jones trilogies.
