It’s been almost two years since JL Audio first announced its E-Sub line of subwoofers. Now your patience is being rewarded.
The company just started shipping the e110 and e112. Both models feature drivers with the company’s own DMA technology, which boasts a faithful reproduction of tracks at all listening levels. JL Audio has also given each unit a driver with an extreme mounting depth. This allows for gaps in between the three suspension elements, promising better linearity, reduced distortion and enhanced long-term reliability.
Designed for everything from home theater to desktop workstations, each model has a new switching amplifer, a rear-panel switch, and line-level inputs.
Also worth noting is each sub’s two-way active crossover, which has a low-pass filter feeding the subwoofer’s amplifier and a high-pass filtered signal exiting through a pair of line outputs. It also offers signal processing in the analog domain.
The e110 has a 10-inch driver, a frequency response of 23Hz to 120Hz (± 3dB), and amplifier power of 1,200 watts RMS (short-term). The e112 bumps those numbers up to a 12-inch driver, with a 21Hz to 120Hz (± 3dB) frequency response and 1,500 watts of power.
JL Audio is selling both subwoofers now. The e110 is available in black ash for $1,500, with a black gloss model priced at $1,700. The e112 is available with both finishes as well, priced at $1,900 and $2,100, respectively.
