JBL’s On Air WEM-1 promises to deliver speaker sound wirelessly, up to 70 feet.
Need speakers in your garage? The rec room? A bathroom? No problem. JBL’s In Air WEM-1 will set you free—of speaker wire anyway.
This wireless expansion module adds wireless capabilities to any loudspeaker. That means no speaker wires across the floor, running along ceilings, or that you have to do hurdles over (we know… it happens).
The kit includes a transmitter, which connects to any audio source, as well as the receiver/amp, for your speakers. It even connects to a computer, iPod or other music player, to send digital music to anywhere in the home. It has plenty of audio jacks (including a mini-jack adapter), as well as speaker-level inputs and a subwoofer output. There’s also a remote. Inside, the unit has a 50-watt-per-channel amp to deliver some pretty decent sound—even to bigger rooms.
It uses the 2.4GHz frequency range and four selectable channels for an interference-free experience. JBL says the unit works up to 70 feet away.
JBL’s On Air WEM-1 will be available this month for $359.
