Is Vevo the Hulu of Music?
If you like streaming video and streaming audio from the web, newly launched Vevo could be the best of both worlds.

You ought to familiarize yourself with Vevo.

If the music content Web site catches on the way the company says it will, it’ll have all the cache and popularity of Hulu and YouTube.

If that’s true, it will be everywhere.

TV, Blu-ray player and media server manufacturers quickly realized the popularity of online video content. Countless Hulu-, YouTube- and Netflix-streaming products were unveiled during CEDIA Expo 2009 (and more are sure to be shown at CES 2010).

Vevo, which is supported by YouTube, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Music and Abu Dhabi Media Company, appears to have similar potential.

Free studio-generated music content — much like Hulu’s network-generated video content — could be appealing for media server manufacturers. The website application is searchable by videos, artists, genres, channels and you can create playlists.

Who knows? It may even provide a much-needed jolt to audio component sales. And it’s nice to see music videos again, since they aren’t easy to spot on actual MTV and VH1 channels these days.
