IOGEAR is no stranger to busting a little cable clutter. However, the newly announced Wireless 3D Digital Kit ditches wires to deliver both 1080p HD and 3D support for up to two rooms.
That stretch means that the kit (which also goes by the not-so-fancy name of GW3DHDKIT) doesn’t need line of sight, but still promises to deliver full 1080p, 3D content and 5.1 digital audio up to 100 feet.
Using the 5GHz spectrum, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit can support HD and 3D from one or two HDMI-enabled devices. If you want to add a second room, you can connect one HDTV to the transmitter’s loop-through (local) port, while the other HDTV is completely wireless. It also works with a “floating” setup, meaning that the TV can be wall-mounted with the wireless receiver, while two media sources are connected to the transmitter.
The IOGEAR Wireless 3D Digital Kit includes a transmitter and a receiver, as well as an IR blast cable, a remote control, and two power adapters. The company says that the kit is also HDCP 2.0-compliant and needs no software or driver installation.
“Our Wireless 3D Digital Kit advances the technology of streaming content and fits perfectly for those who already have a 3D display or are planning to get one,” said Bill Nguyen, IOGEAR’s senior marketing manager. “The GW3DHDKIT offers an easy, affordable way to stream both HD and 3D entertainment discretely with multiple retrofit and installation options.”
Priced with an MSRP of $379.95, IOGEAR plans to launch the Wireless 3D Digital Kit exclusively through Costco.com. The company will then roll out the product to national retailers before the end of the year.
