There are tons of connected TV options out there right now. However, nothing is really as comprehensive as what you’d find on a laptop or smartphone. IOGEAR wants to share that wealth of web-based entertainment with your HDTV, via two new products.
The new IOGEAR Wireless Mobile and WiDi to HDTV is designed to stream content wirelessly from a smartphone or laptop to the TV, with the latest Wireless 1080p Computer to HD Display Kit offering a more compact option for Apple laptops.
The Wireless Mobile and WiDi to HDTV (also known as the GWAVR) can stream video, photos, music and web content to the TV from just about any smartphone, tablet or laptop—up to 30 feet away. It supports both Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) and Miracast and works with both iOS and Android devices.
IOGEAR also says that the free iMediaShare app can be added into the mix. This option makes select content from Vimeo, Facebook, Picasa and YouTube available for streaming.
The Wireless Mobile and WiDi to HDTV will start selling this spring, with an MSRP of $79.95.
Shipping next month, the Wireless 1080p Computer to HD Display Kit (GUWAVKIT4) can stream HD-quality content from a PC or Apple laptop to an HDTV up to 30 feet away. This is IOGEAR’s fourth-gen product, but with added Apple compatibility and support for Windows 8. The included receiver also has a new, smaller profile, with one HDMI and one VGA output. That will retail for $149.95.
“As more consumers move toward mobile devices and multiple screens, IOGEAR’s new products bring seamless integration and flexibility across products,” said IOGEAR CEO Jack Wang. “IOGEAR’s leadership and innovation help create personalized, connected environments that reach beyond the traditional television screen and enhance the sharing experience.”
