There aren’t too many bigger authorities on video display than the Imaging Science Foundation. For fans of Integra electronics, the good news is that two new A/V receivers and a preamplifier are adding ISF calibration capabilities so you can fine-tune your video through something other than the display device.

Already a hit with the custom installer base as their most frequently installed receivers, the brand’s new DTR-8.9 and DTR-9.9 A/V receivers plus the DHC-9.9 preamp/processor will allow ISF-trained calibration technicians to calibrate the video signals from several different source components to deliver optimal video display quality for all of them.

The ISFccc (ISF Certified Calibration Configuration) inside the big black boxes streamlines the calibration with all video source components connected using the receiver’s built-in video switching. That way, the adjustments can be made—and easily controlled—for all of the source material being switched into the receiver rather than employ macro programming or multiple bypass connections.

“That’s the beauty of what Integra has done,” said Joel Silver, the president and founder of ISF. “They have made everything simple by putting the calibration controls in the receiver and providing separate calibration memory for each input. We have worked with Integra for the past year to make sure all the coarse-grain and fine-grain calibration adjustments correspond to ISF protocols. Now, ISF-trained technicians can achieve a perfect match for all the sources and also provide the end user will simple, intuitive control over sources and switching.”

Integra will debut the new receivers and preamp at next week’s CEDIA Expo 2008, and start shipping them to dealers in September. Just in time for optimum image calibration of the NFL and college football.
