Projector manufacturer InFocus is joining the world of full HD 1080p, announcing the introduction of its Play Big IN82 DLP projector due out in September.

The single-chip projector features the latest DarkChip3 technology from Texas Instruments to serve up solid black levels, pure whites, subtle shading in between, with a native 4,000:1 contrast ratio that can be kicked up to 12,000:1 using its iris.

The company’s entree into 1080p comes in a chassis that’s no slouch when it comes to looks either, with the IN82’s sleek, high-gloss black finish.

Other features include: video optimized brightness of 1,500 Max ANSI lumens to ensure great viewing even with ambient light during daytime; the InFocus Color Gamut Calibrator and ISF Day & Night presets to “lock in” optimized calibration settings; integrated Pixelworks DNX 10-bit video processing technology; and HDMI 1.3 with Deep Color support.
