We’ve talked up the benefits of window treatments before. They can help control temperature, cut the glare when watching TV, or just keep the sun from changing the color of your couch. However, if you have a lot of windows, you can spend a lot of time running around the house opening and closing those shades.
If you have motorized window treatments, it certainly makes that chore a lot easier. Now, Hunter Douglas is putting motorized window treatments into the palm of your hand—or at least into your smartphone or tablet.
The new Hunter Douglas Platinum App is designed to work with the company’s battery-powered PowerRise and PowerGlide products. Just give a tap to that touchscreen and you can open and close shades in an instant.
Designed specifically for iOS devices, the Platinum App is competely free and boasts an easy setup. Once installed, the app can control all of the window coverings in your home by room or shade, in real-time. Other features include settings for scenes, timers and schedules.
According to Hunter Douglas, the app can enhance a home’s energy efficiency, provide glare control, and ensure privacy and security. Of course, it’s convenient, especially for reaching some of those out-of-reach window coverings. It also keeps cords typically associated with window shades out of little hands.
