Back in August, Hunter Douglas introduced the Platinum app, a free download designed to work with the company’s battery-powered PowerRise and PowerGlide products. Now, Hunter Douglas is hoping to put the convenience of motorized shading into almost any size home.
The newly announced Platinum Gateway and Repeater System combines form with function to integrate motorize shading solutions with third-party controls.
Designed to work with the full array of Hunter Douglas motorized products, the Platinum Gateway works in conjunction with the Platinum App, as well as third-party systems via serial and IR communication.
Once everything is nice and connected, the Gateway can activate customized shade settings to any or every shade in the house. The end result can enhance natural home lighting and increase privacy, security and even energy management.
The Platinum Repeaters work with the Platinum Gateway to extend the signal range. That basically means that you can have this kind of convenience in almost any size home. According to Hunter Douglas, the internal IR receiver and serial port receive commands from third-party controllers and the Gateway then transmits the Platinum RF signals to the Repeaters. The Repeaters then relay the correct position commands to every shade in the home. Integrated control is also available via IP, RS-232 and IR inputs.
The Platinum Gateway kit includes the Gateway module, an Ethernet cable, a serial cable, and the DC power supply. It also has one Platinum Repeater kit, which includes one Platinum USB Repeater and the DC power supply. The Platinum Gateway kit is priced at $300. The Platinum App is available now as a free download.
