HP made a splash at SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on GRAPHics and Interactive Techniques) today, thanks to its new DreamColor laptop.

The HP EliteBook 8730w Mobile Workstation is the only new laptop to stake a claim on the DreamColor display. Designed for users that are truly geeky about their graphics, the 17-inch unit promises over 16 million colors. Other features include an Intel quad-core processor, 8 GB of memory and NVIDIA’s next gen Quadro FX cards with up to 1 GB dedicated video memory. It will be available later this month, starting at $1,700.

Other announcements include the HP EliteBook 8530w Mobile Workstation and the HP EliteBook 8530p Notebook PC. Both have 15.4-inch displays, as well as an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 8 GB of memory. Each one will be available next month, starting at $1,500.

HP also had two LCD monitors on hand: the 24-inch LP2475w and 22-inch LP2275w. The LP2475w has a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution with 102 percent color gamut; the LP2275w has 1,680 x 1,050 with 92 percent. Both also have a 1,000: 1 contrast ratio, as well as tilt, swivel and 90-degree pivot rotation options. Snag one now for $459 to $649.

Finally, HP also says it’s now shipping customer calibration kit for the DreamColor LP2480zx Professional Display. It’s coming for the Mac next month, but Windows users can snag one now for $349.
