How Can I ‘Broadcast’ an HDMI Signal Throughout My Home?
What products will distribute an HDMI signal throughout my home?
ZeeVee ZvPro 250

Q. I seem to recall that I saw a new product that would ‘broadcast’ an HDMI signal within your home. If I am not totally insane, could you provide a reference to the product as well as any comments you may have on it? - George, Calif.

A. CE Pro senior editor Robert Archer provides the following:

Hi George, I am not sure what you mean by “broadcast,” but there are distribution devices on the market that will allow you to send an HDMI signal via powerline, networking (Cat-5) cable and even wirelessly.

These devices typically work with a transmitter on a source device like a cable box, Blu-ray player and a receiver on the video display end.

Check out Gefen, Acoustic Research, D-Link, Key Digital and Extron.

Another suggestion is the ZeeVee ZvPro 250. ZeeVee markets the ZvPro 250 as a broadcast-type product for the home.

But it doesn’t use HDMI, it uses your home’s existing coax cabling to essentially “broadcast” video on an empty cable channel. The ZeeVee products allow you to distribute HD video content throughout your home.
