Hot Deal: Zmodo 8-Camera Surveillance System with DVR and Sony CCD: $269.99–$349.99
Woot is hosting a one-day deal on this full security setup.
November 16, 2012 by EH Staff

With the holidays coming, you could have some unexpected visitors—and we’re not talking about a fat man in a red suit. No one loves the season more than predators, probably because they know that so many homes are filled will all sorts of goodies this time of year.

You could double-check those locks or you could get something like the Zmodo 16-Channel 8-Camera Surveillance System. Woot has the setup on sale today for $266.99 to $349.99. That range means you can buy the setup with or without a 1TB hard drive.

The surveillance kit includes a 16-channel H.264 real-time stand-alone DVR, eight night vision outdoor cameras with Sony CCD, eight video/power cables and a 12V DC power supply. In other words, it’s everything you’d need to get a security system up and running. However, you’re going to want to add in the hard drive if you actually want to record and/or store the images.

All eight of the cameras are weatherproof and have a 704x480 resolution. The DVR is based on an embedded Linux OS and has a remote and Ethernet support. It can also be used with web-enabled iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and Windows mobile phones.

This is one of Woot’s one-day deals, so this offer is only good through today (Friday, November 16, 2012). However, Woot often sells out, so you’d better snag one soon!
