Not every HDTV has web features. Shoppers can save a few bucks by buying a new TV without those perks, and easily add in something like a Roku box later.
And now that option is even more affordable. For today only, Amazon is selling the Roku 2 XS 1080p streaming player for just $79.99. This is $20 off the list price of the box, and even includes free shipping. Yes, it’s only $20 off, but who wouldn’t like an extra $20?
The even bigger question is: Who wouldn’t like adding web features into any TV? This compact box can add over 300 different channels or movies, TV shows, music, sports and more. (Subscriptions and/or fees may apply.) Even better, it can do those channels at up to 1080p (where available). This is one of the newer Roku boxes, so it also comes with an enhanced remote for motion-controlled gaming and Angry Birds built right into the box.
Designed to work with just about any TV, the box has an HDMI input and a composite A/V combo output. Adding in the web part is just as easy, via built-in WiFi.
Just know that this is Amazon’s Gold Box Deal of the Day, which means that they are only discounting it today (Monday, March 26, 2012). Of course, you may want to jump on it soon, since they can also pull the offer if they run out of stock.
