Need a new home theater? While some may scoff at the idea of buying a “home theater in a box” system, it’s just the ticket for those that don’t really enjoy mixing and matching components. It’s also a nice option for a second theater, maybe for the bedroom, basement or other smaller area of the home.

While it certainly is easy, it’s not always affordable. Newegg is making it both, at least for a limited time. We found Onkyo’s HT-S3400 Home Theater System listed on Newegg for just $249.99. This is about $150 off the product’s list price, and also includes free shipping.

This 5.1-channel system is an instant home theater package, with five speakers, a subwoofer, and an AV receiver. Promising 110 watts per channel (at 6 Ohms), the HT-S3400 also includes perks like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, as well as Audio Return Channel. It also works with both 3D and non-3D theater systems.

Each of the speakers has a 3.25-inch driver and a frequency response of 80 Hz-20 kHz. All five of the speakers are matched to the included 8-inch, 130-watt subwoofer.

Other features on the system can be found in the receiver, which has Audyssey equalization, analog AV inputs, a Universal Port for an optional iPod/iPhone dock, and four HDMI inputs.

There’s no word on how long Newegg is discounting the HT-S3400, so you’d better move fast. Just know that you will need to add the system into your shopping cart to see the discounted price.
