Those iOS devices can certainly tackle a lot of tasks. It’s gotten to the point where talking on the phone has fallen way down on the list of the “must-have” features.
A lot of Apple portables have become the preferred way to control devices around the home. There are plenty of apps and add-ons. Today’s Hot Deal features one of those add-ons, the L5 Universal Remote.
The L5 is a little dongle that hooks to any 30-pin iPod touch, iPhone or iPad. Combine that piece, your smartphone and the free app, and you’ve got yourself a universal controller—an inexpensive one. At least today it’s expensive. Woot is selling the L5 for $19.99, which is 67 percent off the product’s list price.
The L5 Universal Remote can control TVs, DVD and Blu-ray players, DVRs, and much more. Basically, anything that comes with an infrared remote can be controlled using the L5 and your iOS device. It also allows for macros, so you can set up “activity”-based commands.
According to the L5’s page on Amazon, this product has a lot of fans. Take a peek and see what you think. However, don’t think too much; this is a Woot deal, which means that the discount is only good for one day. The offer will end today (October 4, 2012) or whenever Woot runs out of stock.
