Honeywell is looking to become the total automation package. The company just announced plans to make its Vista alarm panels compatible with Lutron’s RadioRA 2. The end result doesn’t just add lighting into Honeywell’s offering, but also new energy savings and security options.

Honeywell says that the panels now support support lighting, shade and temperature control technology from Lutron. Those lighting scenes can help homeowners save on energy bills and can even be tied into security options. For instance, when you go to arm the Vista, the Lutron system can be triggered to turn off lights, close the shades, and even roll back the temperature.

The RadioRA 2 system works with the VISTA-15P, 20P, 21iP, 128BPT, 250BPT, 128FBPT, 250FBPT and 32FBPT panels, as well as equivalent panels offered by First Alert Professional authorized dealers.

“Home protection should never be an afterthought, and more of our customers today understand that security needs to play a prominent role in any home-automation system,” said Rich Black, Lutron’s director of residential product management and business development. “Combining the RadioRA 2 Total Home Control System with the VISTA panels makes it that much simpler for system professionals to deliver value to their customers.”

Both the Honeywell alarm and Lutron RadioRA 2 system are available through the ADI distribution network.
