This techie homeowner had already installed a great media center, which features Thiel loudspeakers, whole-house music and more. But he wanted to take the extra step of having his entire home’s electronics tied together, including lighting, climate and media.
After doing some research on different control systems, the homeowner decided to hire local northern Virginia custom electronics pro Executive 411 and have a Control4 system installed.
According to Executive 411’s Justin Tsuchida, the design and engineering process took less than a month, and the whole installation was banged out in one day—during a winter storm that dumped 27 inches of white stuff on the area.
For the main A/V area in the basement (pictured), the owner got a spiffy new 7-inch custom touchscreen that integrates all of his sources into one remote, with navigation available on-screen from Control4’s GUI. For the whole-house music system, Executive 411 integrated iPod support, with everything available at the press of a button, says Tsuchida.
However, it may be the integration of other home technology automation that the owner enjoys most.
“Lighting control is available on all three levels with scene control, ‘all on/all off’ capabilities and even fireplace management,” Tsuchida explains. “With two thermostats, comfort, convenience and energy savings are all at hand. An automated Kwikset lock will provide convenient access control for a future pool. Automated garage doors check to make sure they are closed in the evening.”
So along with more convenient controls of the audio and video, the homeowners now have everything at their fingertips and the peace of mind that comes with it.
