Designing a Death Star Home Theater
Three separate rooms, one starfield, and a life-sized Han Solo are just a few of the things that help two super "Star Wars" fans get their geek on in this theater.

Gold Winner:
Magic Shell
Home theater designers know a good space when they see one. It’s a room that’s rectangular shaped, has no windows and is large enough to fit in a huge screen. Unfortunately, those perfect rooms can be hard to find, especially when you’re working in a home that has already been built.

Silver Winner:
The Bass-Master
Rarely do we get emotional about equipment lists. We realize that a home theater is far greater than the sum of its electronics parts. A theater’s true worth is measured in how those electronics work together as a whole—and even more important, whether they bring big, wide grins to the homeowners’ faces.

Bronze Winner:
Up and Away
Outfitted with Krell amplifiers, Wilson Audio speakers in the front and Snell speakers in the back, this home theater easily blows listeners’ socks off. Add a drum set to the room, and the noise generated in the room could have rocked the entire house, especially the living room which sits directly below it. But by adding sound isolation materials to the walls and floors, this room can rock out without bothering anyone.
