It’s been a while since we’ve seen new Hitachi TVs. The company skipped the last couple of Consumer Electronics Shows, and earlier this year we shared a story about the maker ceasing TV production, but Hitachi’s back, and the company has some cool new stuff to offer.
Remember, Hitachi ushered in the era of the really-thin flat screen TVs way back in 2007 with the world’s first 1.5-inch LCD TV.
Hitachi is starting its comeback with new lines of LED LCD TVs. The foremost is the UltraVision UltaThin W806 Smart 3D TVs. Models available in 48- and 55-inch versions ($1,399 and $929) include include built-in Wifi, Netflix, Vudu Apps and Youtube, but no music apps.
The Platinum S606 series is similar, and similarly priced, but instead of built-in streaming services, the TVs are Roku Stick compatible—plug in a Roku stick and you’ve got 100s of Roku services at hand. Unfortunately the Roku Stick itself is an additional purchase.
Hitachi will also offer three “Value Series” lines, the S406, H306 and H303. All three of those lines are thin bezel edge-lit LED TVs with Dolby Digital, PicturePerfect Video Processor, PC Input via RGB and a Sleep Timer. Prices on the value models range from $899 to $329

Android-controllable stat can be managed at home or away, and it looks great too.
Centralized home control and automation plus boatload of A/V options including dropdown theater screen revitalize 12K-square-foot home.
Should TV manufacturers offer dumbed-down TVs that focus on image quality rather than apps?
Say hello to home control in this high-tech palace, circa 2006.
