HiFiMAN is updating its high-end headphone line. The company just announced the HE-560, the newest full-size planar magnetic headphone model.
Designed for home and studio use, the HE-560 will replace the HE-500. This new set has newly-designed single-ended drivers in an open-back design, as well as an increased effiency to 90dB. The set also features a cable comprised of Crystalline copper and Crystalline silver.
However, the real hook on this latest model is that it promises to be 30 percent lighter than comparable headphones. This will allow listeners to rock out for hours on end, without all of the associated discomfort. Other features include a new headband, beveled ear pads, and ear cups that are made of Teak wood.
“HiFiMAN headphones have enjoyed a loyal following among audiophiles and discerning music lovers for the last several years. While people liked the sound, they kept asking us if we could make them lighter and more comfortable. The HE-560 is our answer,” said Dr. Fang Bian, HiFiMAN’s founder and president. “Our goals for this model, as well as ones to follow, were to make it as light as a dynamic headphone and not difficult to drive while maximizing its sound quality. The HE-560 represents three years of serious design and engineering work and I believe customers will find our efforts very worthwhile.”
HiFiMAN is now taking pre-orders for the HE-560, which is priced at $899. The product will then start shipping sometime in May.
