It certainly sounds like a good idea: A stand-alone Bluetooth speaker with no knobs, buttons, or displays. Simplicity at its finest! Apparently, a lot of people seem to agree, since start-up company Hidden Radio Design is gaining a lot of momentum.

Designed by two experienced industrial designers, the Hidden Radio & BlueTooth Speaker is both a wireless Bluetooth speaker and an AM/FM radio. It can be paired with any Bluetooth-enabled device, such as an iPhone, iPod or iPad, as well as other smartphones, tablets and other devices.

Promising sound to over 80 dB, the speaker also boasts 30 hours of playback on a single charge. Other features include a 3.5mm audio jack and the option to join several of the speakers for a synced whole-house solution.

“Radios and speakers are often large and obtrusive, we created this product using simple, unassuming, intuitive design so it can be loved in any home,” says Australian designer John Van Den Nieuwenhuizen, who is now based out of San Francisco.

To get the ball rolling, Hidden Radio is letting consumers pre-order the product through Kickstarter.com. The pre-order price is $119, which includes global shipping. Once the product officially launches, the company will sell the speaker for $175.

At press time, the duo has already exceeded its $125,000 goal. However, the fundraising campaign will run through January 18, 2012.
