Q. I’m having problems with the Disney movies on BD for “A Bugs Life” and “Wall-E.” The DTS HD Master format does not show up on the Onkyo 606 Receiver. It shows DTS-ES Matrix. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? The BD player is a Panasonic DMP-BD35. - Darin Buss, Oshkosh, Wisc.

A. Hi Darin, it’s probably one of two things:
The Blu-ray player may not be set up to output the high resolution audio bitstream. Make sure your HDMI cable is connected properly. Then go into the menu of the Blu-ray player and make sure you’ve set it up to output the signal you want.
I would then go into the menu on the Onkyo 606 Receiver and make sure it’s set to decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio. Make sure to save your selection so that when it “sees” the high resolution signal it automatically goes to the correct decoding format.
Both the Blu-ray player and receiver probably have an automatic setting that defaults to the high resolution signal. You may have to manually select the formats you want.
The third and final troubleshooting option is to try a non-Disney disc to see if you are getting high resolution audio from that disc.
If that’s the case, then you know it’s not the physical setup of your system and it’s a glitch with the Disney software.
