DreamWorks might want to rethink pulling its HD DVD release of “Bee Movie.”
When the Nielsen VideoScan ratings were released for the week of February 24, “American Gangster” topped the charts—the high-def charts. The Denzel Washington/Russell Crowe crime drama outsold the other selections in the top 10, which includes “Cars,” “Gone Baby Gone” and “We Own the Night”—- all of which are on Blu-ray. It outsold the number 2 selection, “Michael Clayton,” almost two-to-one.
Sure HD DVD is as dead as disco, but you know what? Some people still like disco.
However, we’re not ready to bust out the hot pants and platform shoes. The studios won’t change their minds, and with good reason. TG Daily says that Blu-ray took 77 percent of all high-def sales for the week, which is a new record.
