Back in 1968, Harman introduced the Infinity brand. Although we haven’t hit any sort of anniversary milestone, the company doesn’t seem to want to wait to introduce the Infinity Reference Series.
That new lineup includes two bookshelf speakers, two floorstanding speakers, two center channels, one surround, and two subwoofers. Each speaker has 1-inch CMMD tweeters with advanced waveguides, CMMD woofers with tuned-port enclosures, and patented Hemispherical Soundfield Technology (HST).
The R152 is a two-way bookshelf speaker with a 5.25-inch driver, a 1-inch dome tweeter, and an MSRP of $399.95 per pair. The R162 is a slightly larger bookshelf option, with a 6.25-inch driver and a $499.95 price tag for the pair.
Next up, we have a pair of floorstanding loudspeakers. The R253 is a three-way speaker with two 5.25-inch woofers, a 5.25-inch flat-piston midrange, a 1-inch dome tweeter, and an MSRP of $899.95 per pair. Also sold in pairs, the R263 bumps the woofers up to 6.5 inches, with a price of $1,099.95.
The RC252 is a 2.5-way center-channel speaker with two 5.25-inch woofers, a 1-inch CMMD tweeter, and an MSRP of $349.95 each. The RC263 has a pair of the 6.5-inch woofers, a 4-inch CMMD flat-piston midrange, and a 1-inch tweeter. That one sells for $499.95.
The last in the new speaker lineup is the RS152 on-wall surround. Sold in pairs, this two-way model has a rear-facing 5.25-inch woofer, two 1-inch tweeters, integrated keyhole slots for wall-mounting, and an MSRP of $499.95.
To round out the Reference Series, Infinity is also including two powered subwoofers. The SUB R10 has a 200-watt RMS amplifier, a 10-inch woofer, and a $499.95 price tag. The SUB R12 has a 300-watt amp and a 12-inch woofer for $599.95.
“More than 45 years ago, the Infinity brand blended aeronautical-based design with state-of-the-art audio technology. It turned heads even then,” said Michael Mauser, president of Harman’s lifestyle division. “Now, Infinity has returned with the all-new Infinity Reference series of loudspeakers destined to, once again, redefine your listening experience with Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm cone technology and our most advanced waveguide to date.”
Shipping with black wood grain finish cabinetry, each Infinity Reference is designed and engineered in Northridge, California. All nine models are available now.
