After seeing its new iPad app, Sonos has really won me over.

Sonos didn’t just re-release its iPhone app, it took the time to create an iPad design that allows users to select music from any source, build a music queue and receive metadata, including artist profiles, all from a single screen.

Usability combined with the coolness factor of the Sonos system and iPad, and the unlimited technical capabilities of CE pros, could reinvigorate interest in audio.

Some die-hard, old-school audiophiles may not like products like the Sonos or Apple TV, but given the current market conditions, they should re-think their opinions of these products because they do represent the future of consumer electronics.

Seeing a quality demo (watch video below) like the Sonos iPad app shows that mainstream technologies are redefining a music fan’s ability to listen to music.

Sonos has melded the music experience with user friendly controls to show mainstream technology is more than capable of redefining how traditional consumer audio and home automation co-exist.
