Gyration’s Air Music Remote uses RF for the home theater PC, as well as IR for traditional audio/video components.
For some reason, I think I’ve seen the new Gyration Air Music Remote. It’s hard to say; so many remotes, so few things to control. Anyway, the company says that the remote is now available for purchase.
Gyration is all about making computer keyboards and mice, as well as presentation pointers. Now they’ve put that magic into the Gyration Air Music Remote. The company says this handheld “controls all digital home entertainment with the ability to replace existing TV, cable, A/V and Media Center remotes, and eliminates the need for a mouse.”
Another thing it does: Allows you can peek at iTunes and Windows Media Player all on the backlit LCD. It also promises control and mouse commands from up to 100 feet away.
The unit features Movea’s own MotionSense technology, which allows you to make like air guitar (air mouse?), using “natural hand movements” to control the on-screen cursor.
The Gyration Air Music Remote is available now for $180. Add another $40 for a bundle with a wireless keyboard.

Now if you put it on your wrist, used light to read your gestures and interfaced with an onscreen menu, you’d have Lt Wv.
