When you’ve got a 26,000-square-foot home, there should be plenty of room to place speakers and TVs everywhere, right? Well, sure, but if you also want to take into consideration the home’s aesthetics, just plopping televisions, big speakers and electronics in every room isn’t the wisest choice.
Good thing the team at New Jersey-based Advanced Media Systems outfitted this palatial home with electronic systems that could be low profile, and speakers that truly define stealthy (including the name of one of the manufacturers) when it blended the technology into the home.
The residence features multiple surround systems, whole-house distributed audio and video, automated lighting control, security, PC networking, telephone system and much more, according to Advanced Media’s Gregory Mizerek.
“What sets this house apart is the way the systems enhance the lifestyle of the residents without diminishing the aesthetics of the home,” he says. “The majority of the speakers in the home are by Stealth Acoustics and are mudded into the Sheetrock, blending seamlessly with their environment. The music in this house is heard, not seen.”
There’s even an indoor racquet court that boasts the latest in speaker technology, utilizing Solid Drive transducers to convert the glass walls into 8-by-4-foot speakers, Mizerek says.
There are plenty of flat-panel TVs to go around, but many have been recessed into custom wood/stone surrounds so they appear flush with the surrounding wall surfaces, no easy task in itself.
Unattractive multi-gang light switches were replaced with elegant single-gang, multi-button units to reduce the wall acne. Scene lighting enhances the architectural features of the home while providing a sense of security with dusk to dawn exterior timers.
Control of the home is made simple with a combination of in-wall and handheld touchscreens by Elan Home Systems, adds Mizerek, providing control of not only the audio and video, but the security, lighting, and surveillance cameras located in and around the home.
