How’s this for a game room? Besides the pool table and arcade games, a Vutec screen descends to show a picture from a Sharp DLP projector, while NHT speakers and Marantz electronics provide the necessary surround sound. And there are disco lights. Next to it is a regulation-length bowling lane with an electronic scoring and automatic side rails for the kids.
And that’s just a hint of the fun and conveniences found throughout this house, equipped by custom-electronics company AVI Inc. There’s also a 32-seat home theater, audio and video in 25 rooms, and a Vantage automated lighting system, all controlled by a Crestron home control system.
The house has two separate suites that include a kitchenette and a living room, one with a TV lift in a hidden cabinet. The two daughters have their own personal playroom with booth-style tables for doing homework or eating, a fireplace with a 50-inch plasma above it, surround sound, and their own kitchen. The terrace level alone boasts the theater, game room, an exercise area with sauna and tanning room, and a diner complete with booth seating, three TVs and every imaginable food and drink dispenser.
This house was high-tech before the walls were even erected. Cameras were mounted in the surrounding trees and wired to a digital video recorder (DVR). The homeowners were then able to watch the progress of their house being constructed through the Internet and make a time-elapsed video of the construction.
