This new “Godfather” collection includes restored versions of all three original movies.
Well, Paramount had to figure out a way to get you to buy “Godfather III,” right?
The studio just announced “The Godfather Collection: The Coppola Restoration” for standard-def DVD and Blu-ray. Both versions include each of the three original movies, which have been completely restored—a process that was overseen by Francis Ford Coppola himself.
Featuring all of the bonus material from the original box set, this set also includes a bevy of new extras. Presented in 1080p, the Blu-ray version supports with English 5.1 Dolby TrueHD, French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital and English Mono (except The Godfather: Part III) and English, English SDH, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles.
Each of the three movies will have its own disc with Coppola commentary. Disc four has behind the scenes info, a family tree, Connie and Carlo’s Wedding Album, additional scenes, photos, short films, and a slew of other featurettes and extras.
The 5-disc standard-def set has been enhanced for 16:9 viewing. It doesn’t have all of the Blu-ray version’s extras or the same price tag, retailing for $72.99. All three of the movies will also be available individually for $20 each—but only in standard-def.
“The Godfather Collection: The Coppola Restoration” will be available starting September 23 for $119.99.
DO NOT BUY THIS INCOMPLETE VERSION The Godfather Complete Epic where they actually re-edited all three movies into chronological order. is not on this collection. It is an insult to all afficianados period. The EPIC has almost another complete movie of important scenes. They did it for BLADERUNNER. He’s just gonna sell us another box set when he needs the money. We as consumers should not buy this incomplte set for a “restoration” that should have been done the 1st 2 releases.. WE WANT THE CHRONOLOGICAL WITH ALL THE OUTTAKES. Restrain yourself for the A New HD format from Sim2, better than Blu-ray is forthcoming!!! Don’t let the companies Rape you!!!

the greatest movie of all time comes to BluRay!
There was a video tape released back in the 80s and I think it was called The Godfather Complete Epic where they actually re-edited all three movies into chronological order. Anyone remember this? I had a copy and my son had it at his house when a water main burst and ruined the whole thing.
I hope it gets issued on DVD or BluRay.
