Buying new speakers can be awesome. Setting them up is, well… sometimes not so awesome. Genelec is hoping to take some of the pain out of the process with its new SpeakerAngle app.

Designed in conjunction with AudioApps, SpeakerAngle works with the iPhone 4 and later, the iPad 2 and later, and the fourth-gen iPod touch and later (sorry Android-ers!). Once you have the download, the app should be able to help you set and match the angling of either stereo and 7.1 surround sound speakers.

Just choose between stereo or surround and place your iOS device of choice on top of the speaker you want to angle. From there, touch the on-screen icons and start manually rotating the speaker. Boxes below each icon display the speaker’s angle. Once you hit industry recommendations, the color of the box will change. Confused? The app also features a step-by-step tutorial.
