Gefen Sends HDMI 33 Feet via UWB Wireless HDMI Extender

Gefen is now shipping its UWB (ultra wideband) Wireless for HDMI Extender.

The unit, designed for ceiling mounted displays and outside applications, sends HD resolutions (up to 1080p, 24fps) and 5.1 surround sound up to 33 feet (10 meters.)

It has three video inputs (two HDMI, one component) with two-channel audio.

With support for three A/V sources, it also acts as a source switcher between three devices from the same flat-panel TV. The sources are selected by using the IR blaster.

The Wireless for HDMI Extender also features:

    Built-in interference cancellation to avoid noise from nearby electronics
  • CEC (Consumer Electronic Control) support
  • WiMedia Alliance compliance and FCC certification
  • Full compliance with HDMI and HDCP
  • Support of HDMI 1.3 Lip Sync features for source devices

eh sounds cool. distance sounds great. and ease of use sounds great but at 1000. that’s a bit steep. you can get a extender from monoprice of cat5e for 120. and having 1 wire across the base of the floor(for those like me who rent and can’t install inside the wall) is ok if it does the same thing for 800 less.
