“Consumer Reports” will detail some of the best bundle options in its February issue.
People often ask us what their best bet is regarding web, TV and telephone service. Everyone has their favorites; even “Consumer Reports.”
The mag just announced results that fiber-optic services seem to be the leading choice, when it comes to the trifecta. Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-verse were cited as the best bang for your buck, as well as providing some of the best customer service.
Sadly, those services are not available everywhere. In that case, the report says to go with “a highly-rated cable company,” such as Cox, Cablevision, and even the smaller Bright House and Wow. It also says that increase competition between all of the bundles have caused prices to drop up to 20 percent—to as low as $80 a month for all three services.
When looking for a service, first find out what alternatives you might (or might not) have. Next, decide if bundling makes sense for your budget. Also, think about the little things, such as programming available, safety options (VoIP and 911), and termination fees. Also, don’t be afraid to ask the provider what your typical bill might look like—and if that fee is negotiable.
“Consumer Reports” details all of its fiber-optic and other findings in the February 2009 issue.
