Between Bluetooth and AirPlay, there are a lot of ways to get music from one device to another, all without wires. However, Sonos is still streaming up a storm — and enhancing that option all the time. Within a week, Sonos announced support for both Songza and Amazon Cloud Player.
Songza is a web radio option that’s sort of similar to Pandora in that there are radio stations. However, these stations are actually made up by other Songza members. Also, Songza can help users find those stations based on a simple questionnaire. Oh, also Songza is completely free in every sense of the word — meaning there are no fees and no ads in between song selections.
Amazon Cloud Player is also a nice addition, since it allows customers to stream music from the Cloud to any Sonos system. Amazon provides free storage for up to 250 songs, or you can pay $24.99 per year and import up to 250,000 songs. Of course, Amazon MP3 purchases don’t count towards the cutoff.
“Our goal is to enable customers to enjoy all their music, wherever they are, and on any device. Launching on Sonos today is an important part of that strategy, as our customers have been asking us to add Sonos to the list of compatible Cloud Player devices ever since we first launched Cloud Player,” said Steve Boom, vice president of Digital Music for Amazon. “We will continue to add support for more devices and platforms later this year.”
Users can register for Songza through the Sonos website. If you’re looking to add Amazon Cloud Player, that can be done through your Amazon account.
