Distributed A/V provider Elan Home Systems has added two in-ceiling models to the company’s TheaterPoint (THP) line of home theater speakers, the THP801C and THP802C. The company also recently announced that it has started shipping its THP650SS On-wall Surround Sound Dipole speaker to custom installers.

To provide consumers “good, better and best” options, the new 801C and 802C now respectively represent the line’s entry- and mid-level models of in-ceiling home theater speakers, while Elan’s THP800C has been renamed the THP803C and is the top-of-the-line offering.

THP models have directed-sound through “pointable” tweeters with laser precision that provide that perfect sweet spot every time, regardless of the room, says Elan. The THP803Cs boast Kevlar drivers, the THP802Cs have graphite reinforced drivers and the THP801Cs contain mineral-filled polypropylene drivers. All models retain cast frames and specially braced cabinets to enhance the sound performance.

The THP800 series’ patent-pending, in-ceiling design allows the sound field to be steered directly into the optimal listening area, says Elan. The 8-inch woofer is aimed directly downward for maximum dispersion, while the midrange driver and tweeter are mounted in a fixed-plane, vibration-free, rotating assembly that allows them to be steered into the listening area, providing for better separation and mix of all frequencies.

The THP6500SS on-wall surround sound speaker includes a forward-firing 6.5-inch Kevlar woofer for maximum low frequency dispersion, opposing midrange/tweeter banks for optimal focusing of surround sound signals and a 3-position (bright, neutral, warm) room compensation switch.

The THP802C and THP801C are expected to ship in the first quarter of 2007 and will be available for a MSRP of $375 and $300 each, respectively. THP803C speakers are available at the MSRP of $460 each. The THP650SS carries a $500 each MSRP.
