With more 3D TVs starting to flood the market, manufacturers are going to need a way to stand out. Sharp certainly has it, with its new Quattron brand.

First announced in early 2010, Quattron is another name for Sharp’s own QuadPixel technology. This adds a little something extra special to the HDTV’s color palette. Instead of the typical RGB color combination, Sharp has added a Y into that equation. That Y is for yellow. After all, why should red, green and blue have all of the fun?

However, the Quattron LC-60LE925UN doesn’t just boast a trillion colors. This 60-incher can do 3D out of the box, via the two pairs of included glasses. If the bright images and 3D isn’t enough to keep you entertained, AQUOS Net adds in Netflix and VUDU features, which can be accessed through your remote and the included USB Wi-Fi adapter. Other features include AquoMotion 240 technology, two USB ports, IP control, and four HDMI ports.

What Electronic House Says

Manufacturers have been creating gimmicks as long as there have been products. Despite what you may think about adding a new color into the equation, this is still a Sharp HDTV. If you’ve seen one of those, you know the quality we are talking about. Even if you’re not into having a 3D, the Quattron LC-60LE925UN certainly makes for a nice 2D TV. Of course, the 3D will be hard to resist (assuming you have access to content), since the TV comes with the necessary glasses. From what we’ve seen, this set is certainly something to aspire to. However, you may want to wait until the price comes down a little more. To date, it’s already dropped $1,500 (on Amazon), but it’s still sort of hefty at $3,349.
