Some people refuse to believe how compact speakers can deliver the goods. Those people obviously don’t own Paradigm’s compact MilleniaOne speakers.

As far as we know, Paradigm has yet to disappoint. They pack that wonderful sound into speakers of all shapes and sizes, and now the MilleniaOne fills a new niche. These are for people who want big sound in a small space—and want their gear to look good while cranking out audio.

Paradigm sells the MilleniaOne as a pair, or you can go full on and get the 5.0 system. If you want to add bass to that room-filling sound, there’s also a matching sub available, the MilleniaSub. This is sold separately, for $1,399 (MSRP).

Each MilleniaOne speaker has a 2-way die-cast aluminum enclosure with an integrated baffle and chassis. On the outside, that cabinet measures a mere 7.75 by 4.5 by 5.75 inches. Inside, you’ll find a 4-inch satin-anodized pure-aluminum dome bass/midrange driver, paired with a similarly constructed 1-inch dome tweeter. Paradigm has rated these with a frequency response of ±2 dB from 120 Hz - 18 kHz (30 degrees off-axis), 89 dB in room sensitivity, and low frequency extension down to 76 Hz.

Despite being sold as sets, Paradigm has priced the speakers at $250 each. If you do the math, that’s $1,250 for the five-piece set. The company offers the MilleniaOne in both glossy black or glossy white.

What the Manufacturer Says

“The MilleniaOne system is part of our high-end ‘Reference’ collection … cool style and superb quality that includes ‘cost no object’ technology at below what you’d pay for any other genuine high-end speakers with this much cool stuff. Paradigm speakers put you in the moment and keep you there! We guarantee you won’t be able to keep ‘The Paradigm Difference’ a secret. In fact, we hope you don’t. Spread the word! Talk about Paradigms. After you’ve taken your new Paradigms home, BRAG about them, let friends and family listen to them too! Our mission is to rid the world of bad sound … and by ‘bad’ we mean the kind you find in a ‘five-speakers-in-box’ promo at your local big box store.”

Digital Trends
“Normally, we present our list of evaluation material at this point but, frankly, we don’t have enough space for that. We ended up using well over 40 different audio recordings and a good 10 movies over the course of this evaluation—not because we had to, but because we found ourselves wanting to.”

Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity
“The value proposition is usually where high end speakers begin to come apart, but not Paradigm. Understand that in the realm of high-end speakers it is a common occurrence to have to ante up twice (thrice?) as much money for a negligible difference. Compare these to any similar sized satellite speakers at the local big box store and I will be blown away if you can find anything that comes remotely close to this speaker for the money.”

Sound and Vision
“I’m thrilled that at long last a speaker manufacturer decided to build a lifestyle system with all the care and quality it normally lavishes on its cost-is-no-object gear. After an hour, I was convinced that the Paradigm MilleniaOne/MilleniaSub combo is one of the best lifestyle systems I’ve reviewed. And after 4 hours, I was convinced it’s one of the best speaker systems I’ve reviewed.”

What Electronic House Says

Paradigm has a wonderful reputation, which is carried on through the MilleniaOne 5.0 system. Don’t let the size fool you. These speakers allow you to conserve that precious floor space and still rock the house, neighborhood, or anywhere else that needs a good sound solution. It would be nice if they packaged up these speakers with the matching MilleniaSub and called it a day (and maybe a discount), but we can’t be so picky when these are so slick and so sweet. Consider your speaker money well spent here.
