In this scary economy, it’s nice to see someone lowering prices. After spending a boatload on your A/V system, you can take that leftover pocket change and get a few DVD rentals.

DVDPlay has lowered its rental prices to $1 per day. Even better, Home Media Magazine says that they will offer Blu-ray titles for the same price—for a limited time, anyway. The company says it will also add more movie titles.

“In an economy of rising prices, our customers are looking for value for their entertainment dollars,” said DVDPlay President and COO Charlie Piper. “By offering more competitive pricing and a greater selection of DVDs, we’re delivering the ultimate in convenience and value to our customers and helping to make our partners, including Kroger, Safeway and Albertsons, destinations for entertainment.”

The company offers its rental service at more than 1,400 kiosks in grocery stores nationwide. Don’t run out to stock up on rentals just yet; the new pricing doesn’t take effect until tomorrow (October 1). There’s no word on when the price of their Blu-ray rentals will go back up.
