With manufacturers making a big push for Ultra HD (4K), there’s a chance that you may actually buy a 4K product—maybe even two. However, just because you want 4K in the living room and the basement doesn’t mean that you have to have multiple components to feed those screens.
DVDO just introduced the Matrix6, a new matrix switcher that can deliver 4K Ultra HD matrix switching to your AV setup. Designed for whole-house theater control systems, the Matrix6 can display two 4K sources simultaneously on two TVs or projectors. No extra source equipment is needed.
The Matrix6 has six HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs with 4K support. It also adds in two digital audio outputs and MHL connectivity for mirroring content from an MHL-enabled smartphone or tablet. Other features include a flash-free mode for switching inputs, 3D support, a USB port, and S/PDIF optical and coax outputs.
“Matrix6 is the ideal solution for any home theater setup with two displays, allowing consumers to enjoy a multi-screen experience and access to advanced video connectivity technologies such as 4K Ultra HD and MHL,” said C.H. Chee, general manager of DVDO. “Adding Matrix6 to our growing line of video switching products validates our ongoing commitment to providing the latest in video connectivity solutions for residential and commercial applications.”
DVDO will start selling the Matrix6 sometime in the fourth quarter of 2013, with an MSRP of $499.99.
