Our Product Geek heads to the video store! Editor Rachel Cericola highlights this week’s releases that are worthy of your DVD collection.
Ahoy mates! Captain Jack is back to grab a ton of booty for Disney in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.” This swashbucking blockbuster reunites Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly with director Gore Verbinski, and if you plan on seeing the third installment, you’d better not miss a minute (and there are a lot of those with a 150-minute runtime) of this one. [$14.99 to $19.99]
I was a huge fan of “Saturday Night Live” when I was a kid. Now, not so much. You can argue which season is the best, and then come get me when you are done. I will be watching “Saturday Night Live: The Complete First Season.” This 8-disc set has every episode in its entirety, as well as footage of a limited edition photo book and cast member screen tests. [$45.49]
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer my hair high, my cartoons Smurfy and my “Miami Vice” with pastel fashions and a Jan Hammer soundtrack. This Jamie Foxx/Colin Farrell action vehicle could have been any buddy action flick, but it seems like they wasted a good brand name that could have and should have been the next “Brady Bunch Movie.” [$17.99 to $27.99]
If you’re in the mood to take off your thinking cap, “Beerfest” will get you there faster than shot-gunning a six-pack. Brought to you by the Broken Lizard team, this blip at the box office follows two brothers who head to Oktoberfest only to find a beer-themed “fight club.” Maybe it’s the liquor talking, but that doesn’t sound so bad after all. Let the lobotomy begin! [$17.99 to $19.87]
