Back in December, a company named Edison Junior launched a Christie Street campaign for its DoorBot. There are many cool products going the crowdfunding route, only to never be heard from again. However, the DoorBot is not your typical product. That’s probably why the company went on to exceed its $250,000 goal.
Now, Edison Junior is busy filling orders, but says you can still snag a DoorBot and get it in time for your summer BBQ. That may be something you’ll want to do, if you’re planning a lot of summer vacations and/or time by the pool.
The DoorBot is a battery-operated WiFi doorbell. Hook it up and you can check in on that door from any smartphone or tablet, via a free app.
Expecting a visitor or a package? If someone comes to the door and you’re not around, you’ll not only be able to see who is there, but also talk to that person. It may be creepy on the receiving end, but the DoorBot is super-cool and super convenient as well.
The DoorBot boasts an easy installation with four just screws and promises year-round use on four AA batteries.
There’s no word on the quality of the camera. However, other features include an adjustable camera lens, an LED lighted ring, and a perforated brushed aluminum faceplate. Compatible with iPhone, iPad and Android devices, the DoorBot is now available for pre-order in two versions. The basic DoorBot will run you $189, with the addition of the Lockitron costing $339. Edison Junior says that new orders should be delivered sometime in July.
