Are you ready for some football? Some people pay a lot for season tickets. Some pay a lot for DIRECTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket package.

Well fans, this is going to be your year—at least your year to pay less on that package. DIRECTV just announced that they are dropping the price to $199.95, which is actually 40 percent less than last year.

DIRECTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket includes the full slate of NFL 2012 regular season out-of-market game broadcasts in HD, the Game Mix channel with up to eight live games on one screen, and the Player Tracker feature for fantasy fans.

The satellite provider is hoping that the new price will allow the package to reach even more fans this year.

“NFL Sunday Ticket is an incredible product and we want to make sure it is accessible and affordable to as many of our customers as possible, so we made the decision to dramatically lower the price,” said Alex Kaplan, VP of marketing for DIRECTV. “With these new package options we hope that those who had the service before will enjoy it again, and those who have not had a chance to subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket will take this opportunity to experience this fantastic service for the first time.”

Viewers can also opt for the new NFL Sunday Ticket Max package, which adds in the Red Zone Channel, Short Cuts, and both online and mobile access. That package is available for $299.95.
