Denon, the audio company known for home theater receivers, is now jumping into the soundbar market with a new soundbar designed to fill a room with good audio without a room full of speakers.

The $599 DHT-S514 Denon soundbar is designed for plug-and-play operation. It includes an HDMI input plus digital optical and coaxial inputs. It also includes Bluetooth (aptX) for connection to smartphones and tablets.

The soundbar features dual 2-inch by 5-inch hyperbolic high-rigidity transducer (HHRT) drivers that reproduce the upper bass and midrange. There are also dual half-inch dome tweeters for treble with response extending to 20 kHz. The matching wireless subwoofer features dual 5.25-inch woofers. There’s a total of 175 watts of power with both the soundbar and wireless sub combined.

Decoding for both Dolby Digital and DTS are built in, as is a Denon surround sound mode. There are 5 other listening modes, plus a night mode for late night use.
