Denon Electronics is about to get into the ring with the likes of Sonos, Samsung, Bose and Bluesound. The company just announced HEOS by Denon, a new wireless audio multiroom music system.

HEOS by Denon will launch later this month with three wireless speakers. Each one can deliver music in any room, all without wires. The speakers operate on dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, in conjunction with the DenonController app for iOS and Android devices.

Once the system is connected, users can stream music to any or all of the connected HEOS speakers. According to Denon, HEOS Wi-Fi speakers will work with smart devices (iPhones, iPads, Android) and online music services. However, the company has yet to name any services as specific partners.

Beside the Wi-Fi, each speaker will also include MaxxAudio by Waves digital signal processing (DSP).

“HEOS by Denon represents the next evolution in products from Denon, a company that for over 100 years is still leading in sound quality, new technologies and innovative products that not only appeal, but anticipate what consumers are looking for,” said Brendon Stead, Denon’s vice president of product development. “The great-looking HEOS Multi-Room Wireless Speaker plays music contained on your smartphone. If you have more than one speaker, they can work as a multi-room system for your entire home. It’s the ideal audio setup transferring Denon’s music experience to today’s busy consumer, allowing them to enjoy their favorite cloud music services to the fullest.”

Denon will launch the HEOS 3, the HEOS 5, and the HEOS 7 later this month, with prices ranging from $200 to $599. An optional access point range extender will also be available for those needing a little help with the signal or reach of an existing home network. Denon also expects to launch additional speakers and pre-amp/amp expansion products in the near future.
