Denon Anniversary Collection: 7 Products, 40 Dealers, 1 Year
Denon will be celebrating its 100th anniversary with limited-edition offerings such as an integrated amp, Blu-ray player, multichannel receiver and turntable from select dealers.

Denon Electronics is 100 years old and it is celebrating the occasion with 40 select dealers in the U.S.

Hand-picked by Denon and its parent company D&M Holdings, the 40 dealers will gain access to the exclusive Anniversary Product Collection, comprising seven new high-end components that will be available for one year only. (Click here to view photos and product details.)

The special anniversary product line includes:

* PMA-A100 Integrated Amplifier (SRP: $2,499)
* DCD-A100 CD/SACD Player (SRP: $2,499)
* DP-A100 Direct-Drive Turntable (SRP: $2,499)
* DL-A100 Cartridge (SRP: $499)
* AVR-A100 9.2 Channel A/V Receiver (SRP: $2,499)
* DBP-A100 Universal Blu-ray Player (SRP: $2,499)
* AH-A100 Over-Ear Headphones (SRP: $499).

All A100 products will be available beginning in November 2010 at select Special Anniversary Denon dealers. Those 40 dealers, which include custom integrators, custom retailers and a few that are authorized to sell online, will be named at the CEDIA Expo, according to Phil Cohn, senior vice president, sales & marketing, Denon and Boston Acoustics.

The dealers will be highlighted in a new Denon marketing campaign entitled “100 Days of Denon” that starts this fall.

Who Gets to Carry the Line?

To qualify to carry the Special Edition products, the 40 selected dealers had to agree to merchandise and demo all seven of the products in a dedicated area within their showroom or online through either March 2011 or October 2011 (depending on the models), create a separate landing page for the Denon products on their websites using the special 100th anniversary logo and other marketing materials.

The 40 dealers will receive a special plaque, enhanced position on the Denon website, enhanced position in Denon marketing, additional marketing support such as direct mail for in-store events and more.

“It’s all about the gear,” says Bob Weissburg, president of D&M sales and marketing. “Our one philosophy is to deliver the best reproduction of music as close to the how the artist original created it. Our passion for reproducing sound continues 100 years later and the new 100th anniversary products have captured the essence of Denon’s mission. We have 200 engineers who do nothing but build Denon gear.”

The A100 anniversary products will be packaged in a special carton with, for the first time in Denon’s history, a five-year warranty and signed certificate of authenticity from the chief Denon production engineer who handcrafted the product. Also included is a Denon “brand book” that explores the company’s long and storied history.

Jeff Talmadge, director, product development and systems integration, Denon Electronics, says the products are the culmination of nine months of work, adding that the products will only be available for one year. After that, they come off the market.

In an industry where companies come and go like the wind, it’s remarkable for a single consumer electronics manufacturer to be celebrating 100 years in business. Denon was founded in 1910 by Frederick Whitney Horn, an American living in Japan.

Horn’s legacy will be celebrated at CEDIA Expo 2010.
